Extremely Active Tropical Wave to Bring Heavy Rainfall to St. Lucia

Event description

An extremely active tropical wave is expected to bring frequent heavy rain, with active thunderstorms and gusty winds to Saint Lucia tonight. There is a moderate risk of rainfall intensities between 25 to 40 mm/h in localized downpours. Rainfall of this intensity can cause surface and/or flash flooding, especially in areas such as Bexon, Soufriere, and Castries Town and their vicinity and other low-lying areas such as streams, rivers or narrow valleys, and may also lead to slips in the vicinity. Strong winds and lightning can affect the electricity grid. Impact: Ponds, streams and canals may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, rock fall, landslips, and difficult driving conditions possible. Commute times will be longer. Electricity power outage possible.
